Where it begins

As proud collaborators of Chetna Organic, we support the livelihoods of farming communities, reducing their dependency on intermediaries. Through fair trade practices, Chetna Organic creates a direct and transparent supply chain, benefiting both farmers and consumers.

Chetna Organic prioritizes organic farming methods, including the use of organic seeds and the preservation of biodiversity. By avoiding the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, organic farmers preserve the natural balance of the soil, ensuring its long-term sustainability for future generations while promoting a safer working environment that safeguards their physical well-being.

In addition, Chetna Organic actively promotes diverse agricultural practices like crop rotation, intercropping, and agroforestry. These practices help maintain soil health, preserve biodiversity, and enhance agricultural resilience, mitigating risks associated with monocultures such as pest outbreaks, soil degradation, and reduced climate resilience.

Where it's made

It is estimated that thousands of people have tragically lost their lives in textile factories in the past. The history of the textile industry is marked by devastating incidents and unsafe working conditions that have had severe consequences for workers. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for change and the importance of prioritizing safe and ethical practices in the fashion industry.

At COTTN, we are dedicated to upholding the well-being and empowerment of every individual in our supply chain, ensuring that such tragedies become a thing of the past. That's the reason our garments are produced in The Rajlakshmi Cotton Mills Factory in Kolkata.

As a fair trade certified company, RCM prioritizes the well-being and empowerment of all individuals involved in their supply chain. From farmers and artisans to garment workers, every stakeholder is treated with respect and provided fair wages and safe working conditions.

Why it's undyed

Through extensive research and a deep commitment to sustainability, we discovered the hidden costs of textile dyeing. We became aware that one of the major causes of polluted rivers in India and other textile producing countries is the dyeing process in the fashion industry. This process not only leads to environmental degradation but also contributes to the illness of many people and animals.

Understanding the harmful effects of textile dyeing on the environment and the well-being of communities, we made a conscious decision to embrace undyed garments. Why change something that is already perfect?

Our undyed fashion celebrates the raw charm of organic cotton, letting its inherent qualities shine. By skipping the dyeing process, we preserve the purity of nature's palette and embrace the subtle variations and unique textures that make each garment truly one-of-a-kind.
